Name Meaning

Roscellinus of Amorica in Brittany (1050-1121) was the founder of nominalism in the middle ages, and instigated another approach to universals. According to Dr. C. George Boeree in his essay on the middle ages, Roscellinus was quoted as saying that the universe is just a vocal sound, or a word. “Only individuals actually exist. Words, and the ideas they represent, refer to nothing.”
